Hot Chip’s sixth studio album, Why Make Sense?, came out in May, and the British electronic group has been touring with it extensively throughout the summer. During their stop at New York’s Webster Hall Wednesday, the group covered LCD Soundsystem’s beloved track, “All My Friends,’ with help from Sinkane and LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang.
Hot Chip had been regularly covering Bruce Springsteen’s “Dancing In The Dark” during their encores, and sometimes threw in an abbreviated version of LCD Soundsystem’s eight-minute epic track as an outro. But Wednesday’s performance, they played an extended rendition, getting closer to the original.
“All My Friends” has been covered extensively, most notably by Franz Ferdinand and Velvet Underground’s John Cale. Those versions of the track appeared on the B-side to the single, which was released in 2007.
